Mr. Popular

Currently Reading: One Lonely Night by Mickey Spillane

Well now, don't I feel popular? We got our high speed Internet connection today which FINALLY means I can go online and upload updates for web pages and check the news and so forth. It also means I can download all the mail I've been missing since last Wednesday. What was the final total? Not too bad actually. Only 363 pieces of mail in my boxes. I'm guessing most of that is probably spam.

Guess I should start wading through all that mess so I can actually do something productive.

At least I'm wired up again :-)

Spurs Game and Group Twitching

Currently Reading: Switching books tonight. Lost focus due to packing.

If you caught the Spurs game Thursday night you saw the proof of my jinx. I watched the pre-game, caught the introductions of the players and such. I even saw the opening tipoff. The Spurs grab a quick basket then the Pistons answer by scoring 6. Pop calls a time out. I decide to watch Battlefield Britain on PBS.

I check in between BB and Spy, the Spurs are up by 2 or 4. I check in again after Spy, Spurs are up by even more. I check in again, lead is STILL growing. Finally, game is over. I catch the last bits of the Tim Duncan interview and then they flash the score. Solid win by the Spurs who seemed to play just fine so long as I wasn't watching :-)

Another odd thing happened as well. I was laying on the bed. CC had fallen asleep to my left and Bu, the little brown terrier, was between us. Katya, my Australian shepherd was laying down at the end of the bed against my legs. Then the twitching began. Bu started first. I felt her little paw start to poke at my ribs. Then I feel CC's elbow against my arm. Next thing you know I'm feeling Katya's leg poking mine. This goes on for a good 10 minutes. Sometimes in a circle, Bu then CC then Katya. Sometimes all at once. Sometimes in pairs. Twitch, twitch twitch.

It was just too cute not to share with the whole world :-)

Too damn funny!

Tom Cruise fans beware, there's a movement afoot to separate Tommy from his latest trophy girlfriend. They even have their own website now, freekatie.com.

Now, let's not get into a big discussion about this. I don't want to see any fighting here about them or any OTHER Tom Cruise topic. Y'all keep that stuff somewhere else. I'm just passing on a funny link :-)

This means something, I just don't know what.

I know this is a sign but I'm not sure if it's a sign of old age or insanity: the two TV stations I watch the most, almost exclusively these days, are PBS and FOX.

Now, that's about as far apart as you can get in the TV world and not branch out into cable. Oh sure you can get further apart in cableland. Just try and be a fan of A&E and Spike. Actually, now that I think about it, A&E has quite a few good shows and so does Spike.

Which brings us back to the original question: insanity or old age?

Which raises another question: which of the two options is worse? :-)

So Naturally They Won

Currently Reading: Nothing at the moment

Had a look at the sports page today? The Spurs won their game against the Suns and will be heading to the NBA finals again. This is partly (mostly?) My doing. You see, the game was on cable and since I don't currently have cable, I couldn't watch the game.

I'm not the only one who has this sort of mystical power to jinx the Spurs though. Have a look at this article from the San Antonio Express News (requires registration which is free).

See what I mean? It's no WONDER the Spurs lost game 4. With all that jinx power stirred up, the deck was stacked against them. It's a miracle they were even able to make it competitive :-)
